A few weeks ago, I was dumbfounded as to why my truck was burning a little oil. I talked to a diesel mechanic a few wdays ago, and he said that sometimes it can be caused by dirty injectors. I used Gumout diesel injector cleaner and the truck hasn't burned anything except for diesel fuel. Anybody else ever have this dilemna?
You put some fuel treatment into the fuel tank and now your engine is not using any oil?
The only thing that I can think of is it swelled the o-rings between the fuel rail and the oil rail on the injectors and sealed them back up. IMO not a good thing. The "fix" won't last long as IMO the o-rings are now softer and more prone to tearing under the HPOP pressure.
Kwikk.....is this as bad as using like Diesel Kleen or other related substances to maintain good fuel etc? Or is the Gumout something completely different?

I don't know enough about chemicals to answer that question. I've just seen how some rubber compounds swell in reaction to the chemicals that they are immersed in. They get larger at the expense of strength, getting softer in the process. In my mind not a good thing at 2000psi.

I believe Gumout is either acetone based or lacquer thinner based. It is hard to tell from the labels because they all just say "Petroleum Based". An old mechanic (with an engineering degree) explained this to me years ago. Joe
