Is this unusual?

Hey fellas,
Just wondering if it's normal for some PSDs to leak a little bit of oil after they get higher in miles. Also, when I changed my oil a few weeks ago, I used 16 qts. of Rotella T instead of 15 qts. Is this ok?

It's always best to not overfill the crankcase on ANY motor. In some cases the oil level will come up to the bottom of the crankshaft and it will begin stirring up the oil in the pan, making a lot of bubbles and foam. On the PSD that's not good for the HPOP system. I don't know how much oil it takes to get to that condition on the PSD, but it's better to be safe. I'm very adament about maintaining proper levels in everything. Mostly due to the foaming issue if too full. Too low= overworked oil, getting hot and thin.

these psd's will safely handle the full 16qts. I do not recommend it for reasons stated by KWIK. just because of possible sediment in the pan, dents etc. But this one time I do not think I would worry to much, like wasting an oil change over it. Just be sure to use the right amount in the future.
