i have a 1995 150. I am trying to get the a locking hubs apart, but I can't figure it out. I got the cap with the three screws off and that is it. Any suggestions out ther?
I think that could be the ring that goes around the outside of the inside of the hub. Look around the very inside of the outer edge. On my manual hubs, there is a ring that goes around inside. I use two 90 degree picks to get it out. There is an end to it, it doesn't complete a circle around.
I wish I could guide you through it but I've only worked with manual hubs.
mustangGT221 is correct, there is a ring that I use dental picks or a small common screwdriver ground fairly thin and bent 90° or so. It is what is holding you up.
Not sure about 95 auto hubs but the 92 and 94 hubs have the same ring you are talking about on the manual hubs but on the autos the ring comes out a different way. The auto hub is longer in length and actually comes out of the rotor + bearing hub (not like the manual) and the 3 screw cover goes over the auto hub. On the side of the hub there is a small metal clip, remove that and then you will see 2 small pins, they are really not pins but the ends of the ring bent up 90 degrees (much easier than the manual hubs). Just take a pair of needle nose pliers and squeeze them together. Then pull the hub out. Some times the hub is stuck and you have to pull them straight out. I put 2 of the screws back in and pull on those. Hope this helps and good luck
I was able to get the hubs off today. The Lock ring was actully broke. That is what made it so difficult. Thank you to you all for your great help. I was able to finish the job today.
