Ive heard of useing tilt columns from a Lincoln although Im not sure if there would be extensive modification or not...that is what I was planning anyway...
Dennis,
is a tilt collum for an 80 to 86 truck useable with out serious modifications? Or will it at least make a good parts donor? I have a tilting collum out of a 79 in my 73. My collum was great a year ago when I put it in, but now it feels like something is loose in it and sometimes makes a soft popping noise when turning. Any ideas?

Whats the official name of that plastic retainer that holds the bearing in the end of the column tube. Im rebuilding my column and I need that plastic part because its busted 2 of the 3 tabs off. It wont sit in the tube properly.
Is that one complete assembly??? or is it a plastic retainer and bearing seperatly.
Where would I get one.. We dont have any in the local junk yards.
Hey 4 wheeler,
I'm pretty sure that that plastic piece and the lower bearing are a complete assembley. Give Jeff's Bronco Grave yard a call at (248) 486- 1760. Ask them about part number 27064 which is labeled the Lower collum bearing for a 78 - 79 Bronco, and a 76 to 79 pick up. They are showing that part to be $35. While you have them on the phone, ask them about the all metal conversion kit. Somebody some where makes that bearing with a metal housing as opposed to the plastic one that is supposed to be a lot better. But, I'm not sure if Jeff's has it or who. You might try to get in touch with an FTE user named Sgt. Wonderful....I think he bought one of the all metal bearings at one time.
