I just used my laptop, connected them to the "customer provided memory backup USB 2" Port on the PCM, and uploaded my truck's memory. I did this so the ol' girl wouldn't forget all of the good tire-roasting and speedo-pegging fun we have had in the past while I changed the Batteries!!

Sorry totally off topic, but it just jumped into my wacky mind so i had to type it up for your viewing pleasure...

Just a little head's up, for those of you that have a alarm system installed,if your useing different setting other then the default setting you will have to tear into the dash (or where ever you placed the alarm)to reset your alarm settings. bummer

Cute...real cute. But wrong.

The PCM that controls the 4R100 does not learn anything about how you drive. It will learn error codes and store those, so you can lose codes that were stored, but if the trans is working fine there won't be any codes.

There is a BIG difference between drivability settings that the PCM learns;from how the vehicle is driven ( what I'm talking about ), and error codes that the PCM creates (what I'm assuming your talking about).

I spent 18 years on design teams that created what is now known as "Automotive Electronics". And my fingerprints are on 80% of those original designs. That's not just Electronic Engine Controls; but anything else that is a black box running around on wheels.

Take care.

How you guys thought up some of this stuff just boggles my mind.
For instance the O2 sensor: I NEVER in a hundred years would have thought that a certain substance heated to 500 degrees F would be a reliable source of information in what's going down the tailpipe. Thanks for your contribution.

Thank the people at the EPA. We were always going for the gusto......more power, more efficiency. Then we would get the specs. changes, and have to de-tune everything. The closest to coming to the original animal would be in the Formula racing cars. But the truth is, that we really are just getting by as far as emmisions go. Wait till you see what the younger guys are doing with Hydrogen cells. No emmisions, just water vapor. This will be a boon for the in-town grocery getters. But there will be a long row to hoe before we start talking about any reasonable towing power. So ol Dino will be around for a long time I believe.
