fix my fuel guage!

hey guys...now AFTER i made a visit to the boneyard and a 35$ sending unit and new guage(5 finger discount...i love big pockets, lol) well anyways, after i became a master at dropping a total of 3 fuel tanks, i finally found my pump/sending unit. everything looked pretty clean, filter was still semi clear. so i was sold because the cargo version only had 15k on the clock...which we all know really means 115k, or even worse, 215...but it wasnt dirty enough to been through all that. so i get home and drop my tank, total of 4 today, and then put it all back together and i got the same problem! the guage still reads completely full, but obviously its not. ive heard that the slosh module can be replaced to fix it. anyone been through this? im sick of guessing my gas mileage. please help, lol. thanks

I don't know how yours is set up, but, on my '89 I replaced the sending unit and the amplifier (slosh module?) and it still didn't work. So, I took the dash apart agin and just cleaned all the contacts for the fuel gage connections and it worked fine from then on.

Had that problem....bought an Instrument cluster on eBay and pulled the Anti-SLosh mod from it. Replaced mine and never looked back...works fine now.

Ok there is a Instrument cluster with the slosh module and there is one without.
The both look the same.
Now sometimes the the solder will be cracked on the Slosh where it plugs into the cluster. Solder it and it will fix the problem.
Or do like I did, I went to the wrecking yard and got a cluster that didn't have the slosh module. Yes the guage moves if I take a corner too fast or stop hard.
But it is nothing I can't live with.

I had the same problem and took the antislosh module off and resoldered it as I learned how to do on Ford Truck Enthusiasts. Has been working great ever since. I did notice a couple of loose contacts(bad solder joints).
