Help! Code #98, Lets Have some anserws
I have 1991 E-150, 5.0L, Auto. I get code #98 with engine running. Book says Electronic pressure control driver open in PCM, or Hard fault present. What is the Electronic pressure control driver and how do I check it? Also I have the engine light on,and I need to reset it, book is not to specific as to where and how to reset. The book says there is a 1000 hour pre timed module and that I need to replace it,do I have to and how do I know? I am in wheelchair and need some advice to get this thing running right.
My buddy drove it home for me ,about 40 miles, but it is not registered and I can not drive it to reset the light. Can I put it up on Jack stands and run it for awhile to get it to reset? I replaced the TPS and it idles smooth now but still get code ##63, I am going to test it tommorow for voltage, but I think it may just be battery down. Sorry for the long post, but I need the help and I know someone here will come through for me.
Thank You Kevin-11
The "easiest" way I've heard (and used...) to do a reset on the 'puter is disconnect the negative battery terminal, leave it that way for 15-30 minutes, and depress/release the brake pedal a couple times before you reconnect the battery. Sounds hokey, but it works for me, and I understand it works on just about anything except some imports (Saab, Volvo?).
