Found something in transmission pan?
Ok, I know this sounds wierd. Just bought a 1990 F-15 with the Automatic AOD transmission. 4x4 5.0. I was changing the transmission filter and after I drained what fluid was left in the pan I found something that looks like a Jewish dreidel only round. It is plastic, round at the bottom, with a gasket around the "round" part, out of the top is a round shaft or pin that is about 1 inch long.
Again, it was laying in the bottom of the transmission pan......
What is it and where does it go?

This is a plug to keep dirt from entering the pan thru the hole where your dipstick tube goes. It is used until the trans is installed at the auto plant assemblers just poke them into the pan when installing the tube. it doesn't hurt anything and you can discard it and rest easy.
