Wondering, I have a 54 f100 that is listed here and I have also put it in the paper. I have received a million calls on it, but I have only had one person stop by and take a look.
OK, it's apart, however, the drive train (show quality) is done and the cab has all of the major metal work done. It's all orginal, 65k mile 223 six, three speed.
I have over $4k in the truck, plus more hours than I care to admit, plus extra parts. I would like to have $2500.00 for it. I'm will look at all offers.
I need this gone, lost interest, no time, expanding family, to many other projects.
and it doesn't have a small block chevy engine in it? oops, wrong thread . . . .
A lot of people are put off by having something apart - even though their plan is to do just that! I'm looking at a 1959 shortbed right now - that the owner hasn't been able to sell locally or in Hemmings - that has the front clip off. Seems everytime he mentions its in pieces, the interest drops. Or maybe its cause it still has a Ford engine in it.
Shipping is another obstacle. You'll pretty much have to luck out and find a buyer with access to a trailer, who doesn't live in Key West, FL, and most importantly, who is willing to dive in to the project where you left off.
Sounds like a nice project, though! Keep trying...I'm sure somebody will go for it. I'd try to use Ebay as well. I'd guess that would be the best place to find a buyer for your type of truck.
What have you spent $4000.00 dollars on in the drive train? Did you rebuild everything? I think that maybe part of your problem, people may have a hard time comprehending the parts thet went into the truck. The other part is you are selling a basket case. No matter how you slice it or what you have spent on it, it is a basket case. Your best bet would be to get it back together. Maybe find someone who has interest in helping?
Yea, that's what I'm thinking. It's a real shame, so much effort already. I wish I had more room, I'd tuck it away and bring it back out in 10 or 20 years.
Everything has been replaced, frame so clean you can eat off of it. Blasted, acid eched, primed and painted.
Time just isn't on my side. Really would like to see it get a good home.
I would find a local person or two who would deliver the truck to the customer for a fair price; the biggest turnoff to a basket case is just getting it home, so if you did the legwork on that end it would definitely sell the truck. Would take the confusion out of the deal.
Well it was only an hour away so the wife and i went over to look at it. Now i have another project. Very nice man and the truck is all that he said it was. Now i have to get rid of the 54 i was going to do.
the truck that i have sat for years . new bed , tailgate and a bunch of stuff already done . the seller was wanting to get it out of his fathers way and i bought it . i would guess by the way you describe your truck it is just a matter of the right person has not come along yet . dont give up.
