Kid Clairvoyance

Do you think it is a possibility? Some think children see/hear thing that adults cannot. That they are more "in tune" with the surroundings. That they can see dead people.

2 stories. First. When my grandmother passed, we were staying at her house with my oldest son, then 1 year old. We had set up his travel crib in what was my grandmothers room. For the days preceding the funeral my son would wake up crying multiple times during the night, we just couldn't get him to sleep through the night (which he had been doing for quite some time). We struggled for 2 nights trying to get him to have a good nights sleep. So the night of the funeral, after everyone had said goodbye to grandma, not a peep out of the kid. We thought it was kindof odd (although could have been only a coincidence) that until grandma was "put to rest" my son could not sleep in her room.

Second, Yesterday my parents were visiting the graves of relatives. They had my youngest son with them (3 years old) because I was coaching my oldest's t-ball team. They visited 3 cemetaries total. The first 2 went off without a hitch, my son had a problem with the third. He said he didn't like the place. My parents asked why. "I don't like the singing" Who is singing? "the 2 girls" The kicker of the story is that there were 2 fresh graves near the grave they were visiting. My dad noticed the closest one was of a relatively young girl. They didn't check the other. Even hours after the fact, my son didn't change his story. Which usually means (especially with a 3yo) that he is telling the truth.

Any thoughts

impressive. I don't know about afterlife or supernatural abilities, but I do think kids notice more stuff. If they watch a TV show, they'll absorb every detail, whereas an adult might remember the main storyline. Days later, if asked, the kid will still remember everything.

Good stories my friend.

Maybe without high jacking the thread people can share other related stories?

It depends on what you believe but I've heard some convincing evidence that human beings have 6th sense capabilities. I once saw a black car in my mind comming up on the left as I approached an intersection. Sure enough as i came to a stop (2way stop signs) a black car came speeding through. I've "known" one of my friends was behind me seconds before he put his hand on my shoulder.

My mom seems to think you can keep from getting sick by simply believing that you won't get sick. I've tried before and the worst I've gotten is a head cold during one of the worst cold/flu seasons recently.

OP: it sounds like your son might be even more in tune with that aspect then most. I had a grandfather die when I was young and I don't remember anything like what you describe.

Ever notice that kids are more likely to figure out magicians' tricks than their parents can? Maybe because kids have much less to think about and more concentration on a particular subject. Just an observation.

ONE of my supernatural experiences…

Early one Saturday at approximately 6:00 am, I was en route to my office on State Highway 599 (four lane divided highway). I was alone on the road traveling in the fast lane (exceeding the speed limit a bit), as I had passed the last car I had seen in miles. Strangely, for no apparent reason, as if I was following a dump truck full of loose gravel, I started to be peppered with a barrage road debris. My windshield received two quick impact dings…..”WHATS GOING ON!!” There was nobody in front of me for at least a mile! My truck continued to be peppered as I searched for a logical explanation for this phenomenon. I finally gave up, as my next reaction was to just change lanes. In doing so, the peppering stopped. “HUH?!”

I continued in the slow lane for a few more miles, where I eventually approached a one ton truck travelling in the fast lane. The truck was carrying three LARGE 20 ft. aluminum extension ladders on a ladder rack. As I approached the truck to pass on his right, the three large extension ladders broke loose off the rack behind him. The scene in my rear view mirror was UNBELIEVABLE! Ladders going end-over-end, twisting and flipping, breaking apart for what seemed like blocks behind me. I remember at that moment thinking “WOW! Good thing I wasn’t behind that idiot!”

Hmmm…..

What do many parents and society teach kids? "There are no ghosts" "Monsters aren't real" Basically kids get their imagination as well as this type of sense they seem to have knocked out of them by society by maybe age 10. I personally have a few (blurred by time) memories of stories like this happening with me. We used to visit an old woman (somehow related) who lived in an old civil war era house. I can't tell you the chills I get even today at the mere though of that place yet I don't know why. I just remember I hated the place.

OK, experiences I do remember. When I was 19 I was a security guard for this 55 and over place in a small town named Moraga CA. It was a graveyard shift. Once an hour I was supposed to make my rounds but other than that I stayed in the main clubhouse. I preffered the kitchen area, the rest of the place was just overwhelmingly large to spend time alone in (echo.... echo....) The kitchen had one of those folding door closets, kind of like a coat closet, only this one had a latch lock on the outside - to keep kids out I imagine. I used to keep a book I was reading in there so after my first set of rounds I'd open the door and get the book, then out of habit I'd close it an dlock it again. The inside of this closet was like 2' x 3'. Anyway that whole place made me feel kind of uneasy, I couldn't place it but I was always looking over my shoulder, keeping all the lights on, etc. My 5th night there, I had done my first and second set of rounds. I came back in, unlocked the closet, got my book, locked the closet again and sat down at the table, which just happened to have me face that closet.

This is where people don't believe this story but I KNOW what I experienced. A few minutes after sitting down I heard a thump from inside that EMPTY LOCKED closet and actually saw the door move. I kind of sat there witht he deer in the headlights look for a moment and then the door started violently shaking and there was screaming from inside. Imagine a 3 year old locked in a dark closet who's scared, banging on the door and screaming - it looked and sounded like that. Now knowing that not 5 minutes ago I had that door open, then closed it and locked it I got the hell out of there because I KNEW that closet was empty and I also knew there were no weird trap doors or anything to it. I quit that job the next day it scared me so bad. Next week I found out that none of our guards had stayed more than 2 weeks at that place, each of us had come back one night and said "I'm not going back there, get me another assignment."

How's that for a story? Problem is its true and 11 years later I'm still wary of those types of closet doors when I see them, to the point that I had one removed when I bought this house...

The closet thing is slightly unbelievable, but I'm not calling you a liar by any means... By unbelievable, I mean, "wow."

It's common for people to lose their PSI skills as they get older. Either the brain or the mind ossifies.

My little chihuahua freaks me out. He'll be downstairs in the living room, in his usual spot, laying on the couch pillows, and he'll look up the stairway as if he had seen someone. He'll start growling, then barking, then snarling, then he'll start whimpering tucking his ears back and run to where ever I am. Freaks me the hell out!!

I do kinda have a sense that there is someone, or something in this house, or on the land. Every so often, my 'Spidey Senses' go off and I'll feel if someone is watching me, or in the same room. Only thing that I can remember that happened is one time I was up late watching TV in bed trying to get to sleep, and I heard footsteps running up the stairs (my bedroom is upstairs), and something slam into the 2nd bedroom door (next to my door), and then slam into my door. Scared the hell out of me! The TV is right next to my door, and when I heard the other door get hit, my eyes fixed on my door and I saw it jerk with the impact of whatever hit it. I really felt like a little kid wanting to hide under the covers! I remember my mind was going 100 miles a minute trying to figure out what just happened, and it took me a good 5 minutes to build up the courage to open the door.

Everytime I'm in their my bedroom, or the 2nd bedroom (where I am now), I always have to close and lock the door behinid me. I always find myself looking over my shoulder at the stairwell if I dont.

On Edit: Blech! After typing that I had to turn on the downstairs lights and check all the doors. Now I'm spooked!

I used to work at a pool supply store, and there were certain places in the store that always had a errie feeling to them. If i was alone on the store, the strange feelings would come across me for anywhere in the place. about a year into working there I met the owners son, and he told me that his grandpa died in his sleep in the place, in the room that always had the creppy feelings. as soon as i found a better job, i was outaa there!

Me and my roommates think the house we live in now is haunted, and for good reason. Nothing thats happened so far was really that scary, but more or less freaky. Right now its me, my cousin and a kid named Chance. Chance said that doors were slamming every once in a while, and me and my cousin just lauged at him cause we've never bought into that stuff very easily. No that we dont believe in it, but it was just us not believing him lol.

Well then one day during the day me and my cousin were watchin TV out in the den and we heard a door close. All of our windows were closed, and the door that closed drags across the carpet. So its not like the wind or pressure would close it.

Then one time when my cousin got out of the shower, the sink facet was turned on full blast. He came out and asked us if we had been in the bathroom and of course we hadnt....wierd.

I was in the bathroom one day and I locked the door behind me. Its one of those locks that you have to turn the ****, (not the push button ones) and when I got out of the shower it was unlocked....I was the only one home and had been the only one home for the last 4 hours.

Another time....
Chance has the mater bedroom, which is lead to by a long hall. The hall goes to his room and his room only. He was walking out of his room and closed the door. About halfway down the hall he heard something slam into the back side of the door. He started walkin faster and then he heard whistling from down the hall. I was pulling up right as he was leaving and he had this ghost white look on his face. He told me what happend and I was likd greeeeaaat, I gotta be here by myself for the next 6 hours...thanks for tellin me that lol.

Not spooky, but along the same lines. My 15 yr old autistic daughter communicates with animals. By that, I mean on a level that most people, myself included, don't understand or comprehend.

1) Horseback riding lessons. At the stable, there was this big Arabian stallion- absolutely just full of himself. After the second lesson, my daughter pointed to that horse and said "he wants me to ride him." The lady that owned the sables said.."oh no, I don't even let the older girls ride him- he's really hard to handle. Very high spirited and unpredictable." Well, Mr. High-Spirited turned into a great big Golden Retriever whenever my daughter was around him. No one could figure it out- but she did ride him later, and that horse would do anything she wanted him to, and was as gentle as could be. The kid was all of about 10 yrs old then- needed a stepstool to mount up.

2) Friends corral, he had a new Tennessee Walker colt. A yearling with a real bad attitude. We go out to look at him, and he warns my daughter to stay away from him- "he'll bite you and kick if he has half the chance." Took about five minutes, and Mr. Attitude is nuzzling and enjoying getting petted. "He's just new, and afraid of the other horses. He'll be fine," my daughter announces. Friend looks at me and asks, "horses always like this around her?" "It's not just horses, " I answered.

3) We were in Newport at the aquarium when Keiko, the Orca was still there. On our way out, she wanted to see the whale one more time while the wife and other kids headed for the gift shop. As luck would have it, the viewing room was almost empty when we got there. Lisa lets out one of her "whale" sounds, and, sure enough, Keiko swims right up to the glass and stays there...for a few minutes. I really lost track of time, because my daughter and this great big friendly dolphin with really big teeth are having the most interesting conversation. She finally puts her hand on the glass, and darned if the whale doesn't rub his nose against it. Then I hear a "awwww," look around, and realize the room is filled with people- and they were as entranced as I was with the interchange, and didn't want to press close and frighten the Orca off. On the way out, one of the scientists pulled me to the side and asked if anything like that had happened before. I could only answer, "well, horses and dogs, but never killer whales." She just nodded and made notes.

I could tell a half-dozen FFA stories, but I'll leave it at that.
