Need help...illumination problems after breakin
I'm having a weird problem. Last week, my 99 Ranger Supercab was broken into...all stereo equipment but speakers taken. I've replaced the stereo since (with an Alpine), but I have no illumination on my dashboard.
On the wiring harness, there are two orange wires; orange ("illumination") and orange/black ("dimmer"). There's no analog on the stereo wiring harness, and it says to just tape them off.
Could this be causing my problem?
Thanks!
Oh, and yes, I've turned the dimmer all the way.

The theft was pretty clean; I had only crimped the wiring together on my last stereo, so they just pulled those connections apart and that was it. I still have the old wiring harness.
I checked the fuses, and they seem OK. I have a tester to check them with which I'll be doing in a little while.
Oh, and to clarify; I don't have ANY illumination inside, including the lights behind the AC controls or anything. The blinkers, seatbelt, airbag, and CE lights do come on though when like normal when used or when the car is started.
Try and plug in the radio and have it hang down and use a light tester on the remainder of the wires you can reach and see at which point you lost power.
