timing 351 m
need help timing my 79 351 m 2 barrell. the truck is a automatic. the hood on the truck is not the original, so i don't have the decal for timing or rpm. should the truck be in park or neatreul gear when timed. could someone give me the proper procedures for timing 79 f 350 2 barrel carb automatic.

You will find the actual process in your service and repair manual that should have been the very first thing you purchased for your truck. These specs should be close enough. The timing should be set at 10° BTDC if your distributor is set up correctly and the EGR is working. Set your idle speed to 750 with a manual and 600 with an automatic. Someone may have better specs tho.
