Side pipes as stacks

Whats your guys's opinions on how it would look if I got some side pipes and altered them to fit for some stacks. Jegs has a set of 2 1/2" side pipes up to 60" long. If I mounted them vertically behind the cab, would they look ok?

I thought that look went out in the 70's. Seriously though, a lot of the older pickups had that same exact setup. Obviously you'll need to cut some holes in your bed and either use some stainless flex or custom bend some pipe to hook them up. How do they look? Old school man, old school. Can you say Lil Red Wagon?

Honestly I think stacks of any kind look rediculous on a light duty truck. If it has stacks on it, it damn well better be a 2-ton or larger. Just my opinion though....

I dunno, the Lil' Red was a sweet truck, stacks are a good look on a stepside box or a flatdeck, I don't really care for them on a standard pickup box though. I would find a place that wrecks semis and get a set from them.

Imo, on a flatbed it wouldnt look too bad. Good luck in your search. Some 6" or bigger stacks should give you a really deep tone.

Yeah, some of them peterbuilts have like 8" on them around here. I thought about hanging some of them under my bumper for tailpipes.

My grandpa was a master welder for Riker mufflers (truck stacks and exhaust systems out of Toledo, Oh) for a long time, he's still got some connections, so he might be able to get me a set of custom ones for dirt cheap.

I like the stacks in the regular beds as long as they're done right. There's a guy around here that has a s10 with HUGE 6" stacks in the bed. They sit about a foot or so above the cab and look absolutely rediculous.

On the other hand, there's a real nice 77 F150 regular bed with smaller stacks and it looks awesome.

I'm hoping to get the side pipes from my friends 67 corvette. He wants under-carrige exhaust and will give me the pipes if he does the swap.

I have a set of 5" by 60" stacks I will be putting on my F-250 hopefully this weekend. I got them from e-bay for about $130. The peterbilt dealer wanted $250 each. If you look for the chromeroom store on e-bay, you will find them. I am paying to have them professionally installed though, should be pretty loud with no mufflers echoing through those big pipes.

stacks

if its a diesel, stack it. ive got a 6" turnout on my 83 f-250 6.9 diesel, my 97 powerstoke is stock. but if its a gas dont do it. that would be lame. if you have a stack it should be able to blow a big cloud of black smoke. thats what they are there for.
