Engine Swap
how much of the TFI-IV system can be disconeected without affecting the ignition, in other words, can I get rid of the feedback carb, or should I put the Duraspark II off of the 82 on it?
As for my second question, I am not sure if the 84 has a C4 or C6 auto, as far as I can tell, it is a C6, but the only manual I have that lists the model numbers only covers cars. The model number is something along the lines of BGD-2something6 but, I think the B is incorrect, but I am sure of the GD-2?(/ maybe?)6. I notice that the transmission has a relutance to go into reverse sometimes, if I shift directly from D1 into reverse, sometimes it won't engage reverse or any other gear unless I give it a few shots of gas, then it will engage as if nothing is wrong. I think it is full of fluid, but, I am not sure, it has been 12 years since I worked on a Ford auto, and forget where the fluid is supposed to be when It's cold. Also, it won't kick down, but that is explained by the lack of a kickdown rod, which probably couldn't work anyway, with the carb crossways and all, if there is such a thing, it must look like a snake. Other than that, the trans works perfectly, the upshift from 1-2 is almost undectable, and 2-3 is pretty dang smooth too, whatever is wrong must be pretty simple, but, my reair manual(a Haynes, waiting on a Chiltons) is about as good as a 1 sided 3 dollar bill.
