Door Speakers

I got an early '99 SD supercab. Can someone tell me if the speakers in the front and rear doors are 6" round or are they 6 x 9's?

They are a 6x8 but alot of speakers say 5x7/6x8 with dual mounting tabs will work.

5x7 are what I put in my 01??? 99 is close but things do change. the door panels come off pretty easy. I would suggest pulling them and measuring the hole.

they should be 6x8. most places make 5x7/6x8, which is a 5x7 speaker with bolt holes to accept either. me personally, i like to make sure i get the entire 6x8 speaker, but it limits your choice. pioneer makes a pretty nice speaker, and there are a few component plates out there that have 6.5 round with a seperate component tweeeter in a 6x8 mtg plate. thats going to cost a bit more, but have better sound.

I felt like treating myself, so I went to Crutchfield and selected the Infinity 6x8's for the front and rear. The 6 reviews were all very positive, and they were on sale, $130 total for the speakers, harness, instructions, and wiring adapters, not bad.

Speakers

I installed 5x7 Infinity Kappas from wwww.Crutchfield.com in my 2000 250 PSD, and the instructions from Crutchfield were great, easy job

I always change the deck before I change the speakers, The sound from a quality deck will bring out the best of the stock speakers. Then when you blow them out you buy new quality speakers. Some people put reducers on their speakers in order to make them sound like tweeters and reduce the base going to them. then you add Subs with voice coils to give you that much needed back massage .
Peace
