I have an '85 F150 with a 302 EFI with dual tanks. When the weather is warm, I'm running off the rear tank, and the truck has been ideling for a couple of minutes (like at a red light) then it acts like it's starving for gas when I start off again.
I did a search on the forums and it looks like I have a vapor lock problem. There are posts that mention insulating the fuel line but they don't specify what to insulate with. I have been to Auto Zone (blank looks), a local off-road specialty shop (said they didn't carry anything flexible enough), and Lowes (nothing that could take the heat).
Any help with what to use and where to find it would be greatly appriciated.
Are you sure it's not your ignition module instead? The stuff I've seen used is called Thermo Shield Tape from a company called Cool It. You can get it from Summit Racing for $15.00 for a 1.5"x15' roll. It's got an adhesive backing so it'll go on your lines without zip ties.
Yeah, if I were you, I'd check the ignition module with a voltage tester when it gets warm. From what I've gathered, when the ignition box gets too hot, it acts like a circuit breaker to prevent bad mojo from happening, it shuts itself down. Once it cools down a little, it runs just fine until it gets hot again.
I've never had this happen, but from what I've read in the forums here, it's pretty common.
