F-Type Fluid

Will putting something other than F type fluid screw up a power steering pump as it would a tranny. I used generic power steering fluid and wonder if it makes a difference?

I am not sure if it will damage anything, but just remember, don't go for the cheapest stuff, its never worth it in the long run.

F-Type Fluid

From what I remember, the Type F was used only from 79 on back.The change was inline with Fords new P.S. pump, the aluminum w/ plastic reservoir one.Then again, I'm not sure, but hopefully someone can fill us in on this subject. I'm curious myself as to what year the change was made to P.S. fluid.
