trans pan gasket???
i'll be changing my trans fluid soon and want to know if i have to use a gasket seal on the new gasket? i'm changing the fluid in the pan and replacing the filter, how many quarts do i need for just draining what's in the pan. i have a 98 4x4 expy. 4.6L 86K trans fluid never been changed... thanks

I always install a new gasket after dropping oil or tranny pan. I have never used gasket seal on them though and I never had a leak. I am sure it wouldn't hurt...

dont use a gasket seal... If you drop it and it has a black rubber gasket, which i think yours does, its reusable, no need to replace. Dont use the piece of crap cork gasket that comes for free when you buy the filter...clean and reuse the stock rubber one.
