I clicked on the sponsers and still can't find a rear tank for a truck with a narrow frame. I also have a 77 f-250 with a narrow frame and i want a gas tank for the back of my truck. anyone know where i can get one?

I replaced the cab on my 74 highboy with a one ton cab from a 78. the 78 had no fuel tank in the cab. I didn't want one there anyway. Faced with the same problem I took a standard tank and turned it sideways, ran longer filling line to it, and stuck it just in front and over the axe in the rear. Be carefull if you do this to secure it really well. You don't want it to spill or leak. I also put a newer bed on it that had a side fuel filler hole. I only run 19 gallons but have no smell in the cab and have full use of my bed. I don't like saddle tanks either.

I also had the same problem. I have a 77 F350 Crewcab with the 34" frame, the only rear factory tank that will fit is the 78-79 Super Camper Special. It is a plastic tank and comes with a steel shield that surronds the tank (front bottom and rear). A "Camper Special" rear tank will not work, it has to be a Super Camper Special. If you can find a S/C Special, you must also take the cross member that the front part of the shield bolts to and the filler neck.
I'm not sure, but a 78-79 F350 Crewcab might also have the 34" frame and since 77 was the last year for the in-cab tank, they should have come with a factory rear tank.
It is a pain, but well worth it.
