Hey, I'm kinda new to cars and what not but I do know a little bit. I have a '93 f-150 XLT 2WD with an EFI 300 in it and an E40D tranny. I have a regular cab with an 8' bed. I was thinking about starting a project to take the 300 out and put a 460 in there just to have some fun and learn a lil about cars.
I was just wondering what all I'd have to change out while keeping cost down a good bit.. I'm still in high school and I am trying to learn more about cars and have someone that will help me out with it once i get the funds to do it.
Thanx in advance for any suggestions!!

Hey Clayton, in a word....DON'T! Unfortunatly the days of dropping in a bigger engine just for grins died in the mid 70's. Now you have to contend with intricate emissions and computer systems. A bigger block means replacing almost everything that goes with it. Hoses, vaccum lines, wire harnesses, sensors, cpu, linkage, radiator, exaust, etc... In the end it could cost you more than a new truck. And with a 460 you can look forward to about 8mpg city and 14hwy. A stock 460 is rated at about 260bhp at 4200 rpm. Your 300 with the right parts could surpass that for a lot less money. Good luck, Karl........
Sell your truck and buy a 250 or 350 with the 460 is definitly your best bet if your set on the big engine.
If your set on swapping a 460 into the truck you have and find someone to fund you with deep pockets, L&L Performance makes alot of goodies for dropping a 460 into your truck. They have alot of their products over at Jeffs Bronco Graveyard. It's always fun to look whats available anyways!

Just look for an F250/350 with a 460 in it, i just picked mine up a couple weeks ago which is running excellent for 1600 dollars, my first vehicle. The power is great, i wasnt expecting it out of this massive truck, anyway the point is sell yours, buy one with a 460 in it already, its just better that way.one warning THE GAS WILL KILL YOU. get a smaller vehicle if possible to go along with it, i hate to say it but i might find myself behind the wheel of a little honda, that way i can even out the gas.
