My 94 Explorer passenger window is stuck down. The motor is not trying to run, it just seems dead. The master drivers side window control won't put it up nor will the passenger side control work. Took the panel off and can't even see how you would swap the motor out. What should I do? I read maybe swaping out the control switch, but if neither of the switches work is this the way to go? Haven't tried to jump the motor with an outside voltage because I'm not sure which of the cluster of wires to jump, might be the wires in the grey clip? Thanks
Mike
Have you tried to push/pull the window up while pushing the up button? The regulator in mine has gone out before and that was the only way I could get it to go up.
It won't be the control switch, more likely your window motor is fried. If you have a meter it is easy to determine. Look for the connection that has only two wires to it, that is the power to the motor, if you are getting 12V there when you push the control switch then the motor is toast, if not, most likely the regulator. You should have 1 meter lead on a good ground and the other on one of the two wires, push the switch in both the up and down to check for voltage.
Just a thought - did you try both the passenger door and driver's master door switches? This will help isolate the problem. I assume the other windows work so it's not a fuse. There was a TSB to upgrade the power window/mirror harnesses. It added a in line fuse that would burn out if the switch shorted. I guess there where some fires due to wire harness over heating. This fuse that was added is supposed to be near the actual switch. The swiches come out of the doors with a small straight screwdriver.
Well I hooked everything back up today and the window works fine now, all I did was jump it once to get it up... so must of been a lose wire in the control switch? Goes up and down from both the drivers side and passenger side. Thanks for your help
