This may have already been discussed and beaten to death, but I couldn't find it doing a search, so here goes.
I recently did my first oil & filter change on my 04 F350. I had ordered oil and a new filter from Amsoil, but because I was leaving on a trip prior to the delivery, I bought Mobil 1 and a Fram filter from Wal-Mart to get me by. When I changed the filter, much to my surprise, the stock Ford filter was the exact same filter as the Fram filter. Both were made in Germany, and were stamped with the same exact same part and patent #'s. The difference was that the Fram was $14 vs $30 from the Ford dealer.
After returning from my trip, I opened the Amsoil filter that was delivered while I was gone and guess what? It also had the same exact markings and numbers that the Fram and Ford filters did. And it was more expensive than buying it from Ford. So, after considering all that's been written on oil and everything else, the Amsoil products are going back and I'll continue using Mobil 1 and Fram filters from Wal-Mart and use the money saved on something more useful.
Oilguard has them for $11.00.
They are all made by Racor in Germany and are all exactly the same! Just different packaging. Even the two 'models' that Oilguard sells are the same.
Do you know the answer to the air filter question, above? Seems like I've read numerous times to stick with the stock air filter...but is there a chance several companies make the same thing, like the oil filter?
Looks like I'll be buying 6-pack oil filters from Oilguard!
This is the first time I have heard anyone say that Fram filters were also the same filters. Might have missed that...but have heard many times that NAPA, International, Oilguard etc were the same filters.

Does anybody know if the Oilguard air filters are the OEM Donaldson PowerCore filters? I got a quote of $35.00 from LA Freightliner for them.
I would like to support the FTE sponsors but I gotta put shoes on my kids feet!
