I have a 2000 Explorer with climate control. The car seems to be losing coolant as I have to fill the resivor holding tank every other day. When set at 70 degrees, early in the morning the temperature is 40 degrees, it works fine until the engine warms up, then it blows hot air through the vents, you have to have the setting at 65 will blow cold air, then hot air. Anybody out there knows whats wrong?
The first thing you need to do is figure out where all that coolant is going. Do you see it leaking on the ground? Is there coolant in your engine oil?
Is it steaming out the exhaust?
If it's an automatic, it could even be going into your transmission.
Also check and see if the carpet is wet with anti-freeze on the passenger's front floor board, it could be a heater core. If it is, sometimes you can smell it or the windshield fogs up.
