vacuum leak

I have read most of the threads of this topic but I still have a few questions. Is the vacuum sensor the little rectangular box bolted on the passanger side behind the batter? It has a white or beige cover on it and if I pull it off it has a sponge or filter in it. It also has two wires that are connected to the top of it. Also both vacuum lines plug into it. Is the vacuum pump right next to it bolted on the fender well? It looks like one of the vaccum lines connect to it. Is the pump supposed to be on when you start the vehicle? It seems that the pump does not come on at all. I have checked the lines and can't see any leaks. My auto hubs don't work unless I manually lock them and my AC only blows from the defrost. My hubs went out first and then a couple of months later the AC went out. I have a 99 PSD 4x4. Any help would ge greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes, that is the vacuum controler. ( Don't have a clue what its real name is.) Right behind and below this is the vacuum pump. I don't know if it comes on everytime you crank the truck, but mine does every morning when I first start it. Try checking the wiring connector on the vacuum controller.
