I'm looking to get more hp out of 96 psd. I'm not a rich man that is why I bought a 96 with 210k on it. It already has a K&N filter (from what i read on a post is not a very good filter). The muffler is gone and I thick the cat is still there. Is the muffler replaced with a straight pipe really doing anything for couse it is getting anoying. What is the cheapest why to go to get more power. The powerchips sound nice but then you have buy gauges. If these chips work so good why don't ford put them in factory? If you put in a 4in exhaust do you have to get dif manifolds too?

The "cat" will be located right below the pass. floor, if it is in there REMOVE IT, takes 18" of 3.5" pipe @ $5 a foot, the seat of the pant meter will give it two thumbs up. look up 10K mod, alot have done it and had good results, a lil more HP, cheap, like 50 cents. ditch the stock box with the K&N and get a Napa filter part # 6637, cost $35. again Seat of the pants meter will give it two thumbs up. so your in for about $40.50, and should have a lil more fun, but once your sick of the 10K and want more have to shell out the cash for a chip, and gauges.
4" exhaust will work with the oem manifolds. if the straight pipe is annoying, I suggest getting a muffler for it, the stocker for the OBS trucks is a straight through design, kills the flutter pretty good, but still has a decent tone.
if ford where to install the chips factory it would void the motor warranty from Internation/Navistar.

here is a link to basicaly the same mod, except it uses an adjustable 18K ohm speed pot, instead on a 10K ohm resisitor.
