Leaf spring bolt head sizes
Leaf spring bolt head sizes
If anyone has a book, or knows off the top of their head. Can you please post the bolt HEAD sizes for rear leaf springs on a 1990 e150 ( yes mods I know this is a F150 forum but Im sure they are the same size) My vehicle has a broken spring about 2 hours from my house. I had someone else measure for me and he THINKS the shackle end is 7/8 and the main spring bolt is 1inch. I'd really like to be sure before I buy the wrenches and head on out there
THanks a bunch!

That sounds too big....The Fords technically have a metric bolt and when you replace it with a standard it will be a 9/16 bolt...the head will be 13/16 socket and the nut 7/8....it could be a 5/8 bolt in which case the head and nut would be 15/16 socket...i know it's not one inch...i work for a spring company and i can look it up tomorrow to get the exact specs

kansasjoe sounds right, i have mine apart and will look at them, i know one is 13/16 i will check the other. you will probably have to cut them anyway. they rust to the spring grommet. some come out easy, some come out hard.
just go to ford and they will show you what they have for f150 and e150. you need ubolts. maybe shackles, front and back. and like i said you will probably have to cut some of this stuff. just talk to your ford parts guy and buy all that you need and take back what you do not. you say truck is 2 hours away. do you know the ford dealer where you are going? is one close?
