302 eng specifications?

Hello,
I've been looking for the stock specifications for my 89 bronco 4x4 302 engine. I need the bore, stroke, cam info, hp, and torque.
Some of the info that i have found would suggest that ford used the same cam in the 255 motor. That just doesn't sound right to me. I'm not going to use the same cam when i rebuild my motor I just want to know the info so that i can mess around with my Dyno 2000.

Also, any suggestions on my 302 rebuild would help.
My plan's are to install a 6" suspension lift, 3" body lift, still looking at kits.
36 to 38 MT tires. I don't want to go too far on the hp on the motor i still want some driveability out of it, because i'm still going to drive it to work everyday. Which is less than a mile away.

Thank's

Your cam options with speed density fuel injection are very limited (which is what your 89 is). Speed density just doesn't accept changes in lobe separation and duration. Your best bet is a swap to mass-air injection first. Then proceed with your cam mods. Otherwise you will just be inviting headaches that you won't be able to cure. How much additional HP are you looking to get? There are lot of simple bolt on itmes that will do good things for the 302 as it is. Up to, but not limited to, heads, exhaust, intake, and throttle body are all available to help increase overall HP and torque.

As for the lift(s), I personally won't combine suspesnion and body lifts for stability and safety reasons but many people do it. Take a very close look at Tuff Country for the suspension lift. Theirs is the ONLY kit out there to offer any REAL alignment options for the TTB Dana44 front axle. Yeah, Superlift has greater offset balljoint shims but you still end up unable to change caster and camber independantly. One affects the other by very nature of the design. While this works well enough for these trucks in stock form, lifting seriously modifies "stock form".

You can run a completely stock 302 with tires that size as long as your axle gearing is up to it and still get fairly good performance out of it. You can do the math or check out some of the gear and driveline suppliers' websites. Many have the calculators for gearing, tire size, and RPM built into their sites. Swapping axle gearing will allow the tire size without sacrificing engine performance. Check the RED LINK in my signature for more info.

your axles wont handle tires above 36-37"s. so be for warned. like grey said your really tied down due to that speed density. I ran into the same issue a while back with my 302 and instead of throwing all sorts of cash on a 302 that still wouldnt perform to well. i went with a 351w swap. i gained 40lbs of torque and it was a bolt in swap. i was even able to keep the stock efi setup (speed density). now with some minor mods i can outpeform most highly modded 302s that spent 3times what i have.

also for those size tires figure 4.56 or 4.88 gears front/rear otherwise you will be stressing that little 302 big time and the rest of your drive train.

good luck
