Just picked up this truck, cab is 84 on the paper work but build tag is 83 & built in Canada. motor seems to be 87 or 88 most likely from a LTD 302. it is a 4x4. the box is newer, was told the frame is diferent also. how can I date the frame it has coils in front and leaf springs in back? I was told it was put together in Pa. it runs great much stronger than it looks ugly truck Thinking of puting on a camo paint job on it what is the best type of paint (cheap) to used don't mind brushing it on eather?
As for paint, go to a farm store, Quality or TSC, and get some truck and tractor enamel. I used this on one of my trucks, blue and white two tone. It looks fantastic, wears like iron, and cost 17.00 per gallon. Also go for the hardener option, 7.00 for enough for 1 gallon of paint.

4WD started using coils in front about '77 in 1/2 tons so you're good on that score.

So long as it all fits and it runs and you like it and it's got a title, who cares what the origin of the components are. Have Fun
Just a few things I found when you put a meater from the bat. neg - to any ground on the truck and have a reading the bat neg cable is not tight. Also haveing all the wires going to the regulator is a good thing.....
