fuel pump keeps running

twice now, when i've shut off my truck(90 F-150 302) the fuel pump has kept running. Tried restarting the truck and turning it off, no luck. Finally had to open the hood and hit the fuel relay a couple of times. I figure it's either just the relay sticking or a short somewhere. Any other ideas? Also, I've read several posts which state that my truck should have 3 fuel pumps: one in each tank and one along the frame rail. There is not a pump on the frame rail. Were some made diffrent than others? Thanks.

Yes , sounds like the relay is sticking , its easy to switch out and inexpensive .There were a few different fuel pumps setups over the years .
