Shredded transfer case
Missing parts(bushings?) in a transfer case on a new truck causing it to shred itself. Has anyone else had this happen? 2005 F250, 4x4 (hence the T-case), 6.0 PS
Some background on the incident.
I heard a clicking for about 3 seconds at about 45Mph, I put it in neutral and coasted to a stop(at a light thought it might have been the construction on the side of the road, you know new truck and all), gave it some gas and nothing. While I waited the 40 minutes for the tow truck to show up(sitting in the #2 lane at the light), I remove the banks six gun just to be safe on the whole warranty thing(don't want em to think it's my lead foot and aftermarket mods). Tow it to the dealer I bought it from and after offering some beer to them if they get it done the same day, they call me and tell me that the transfer case was missing some ?bushings?. So from the day I bought it I was rather quickly shredding my transfercase without knowing it. So at 5500 miles my transfer case no longer transfers anything but metal shavings to the bottom of the my T-case.
I'll let you guy know if all is good when I get it back.

No it was not in 4 wheel. and I had not even put it in 4 wheel drive yet. Can't look at the door cause I don't have the truck, I'll post the build date when I get it back. I asked my service writer if they had seen this before, and they said 1 other. It's a big dealer with a lot of super duty sales.
