When I first drove the truck home from Price UT to Buena Vista CO I was a little nervous. What could possibly go wrong with buying a 40 year old truck sight unseen over the internet then driving it for seven hours?
I did the same thing except my drive was only a hour and a half
Nice truck, and great deal! last fall I bought a 66 in about that condition for the same reasons. It was cheaper than renting a truck for the work I needed done.
As for restoring it or just using it as is. Personal I think restoring my truck into a show truck would be like killing it's pride. Its a work truck, and a darn good one. I still plan to paint it, But I have myself convinced that it's only to stop the rust
I haven't done it to the truck yet, but I have to an old car. On the truck I'm looking for the last couple of parts.
As for the diffrence it made, none really not in normal driving. if I had to get on the brakes hard, it was a better ballance of brakeing front to rear. The real advantage was when a stick ripped off my rear brake line, and I still had brakes.
