Bought Another Ford

hey,

its been a while since ive been able to show my face around here none the less, i just bought a 95 F250 powerstroke 5 speed 4x5. it has 200k on it, but it drives sooooo so nice, and is in perfect condition. excellent turbo feel and everything.

few things that i want to fix right off just to make this thing last forever.

the clutch: it catches right off the floor, can i adjust it or is it on its last leg? if it is getting worn out who makes the best clutch for this truck?

reverse: it doesnt engage properly. it will feel like its in gear and when i let out the clutch it pops out and grinds, then it slips in just fine after throws its fit. is this normal for the ZF5? if so, can i take it in have a pro take a look and see what he can do? also 3rd is a bet touchy as well.

gauge lights: only half the LCD odometer lights up, and half the tach is dark too. what is the process for safely removing the dash to replace these lights?

THE SORRY EXCUSE FOR A SEAT!!!!: dude, this seat absolutely sucks, the drivers side has completely collapsed and pushed out the back. )the lumbar doesnt work anymore either) should i get the current seat reapolsetered and restuffed and. . . .well. . . . will a newer (say, 96 tri-bench) seat bolt into the current locations and all the lumbar hookup work as well? my dad has a 96 crewcab with that 3 partitioned seat (drive and passneger full buckets with the middle folding bucket/cup holder.) i would really like one of those because of the tilt adjustments.

those are my only only concerens with this truck. even with those issues i love this truck. i went from a 4.3L V6 fullsized chevy with maybe 100hp to this monster. its amazing the power i have. i cant wait to get a programmer and see how well this truck will perform.

Boy does this sound familiar. I've got a 95 F-350 and just did a re-work of the clutch linkage. I'm betting that you'll need to do the same thing. There is a bushing in the eye of the linkage that wore out and slipped the clutch down to the floor. I had to stand on it to get the truck to start since the neutral safety wouldn't catch unless I put 170 lbs on it.

Check out Steve Baz's site (http://pages.prodigy.net/stevebaz/_i...az/index3.html) and do a search for clutch and you'll find two ways to fix it. I had to drill a hole and use a washer and cotter pin since the linkage pin was worn down and the new bushing gave way when I stepped on the clutch the first time.

Can't help you with the seat but I'd bet this will fix your clutch up just fine.

Good luck!

Welcome baack from the dark side! I've always said it is better to stand on the side of the road with yer thumb stuck out while holding a Ford hubcap than it is to ever ride in or drive a Chevy.........
