I took the brake booster and master cylinder off a 79 250 and put it on my 74 250.... I bled them and have no brakes... Anyone know why this might be? Did i miss something? I would think the brake and booster are all that would need changed... But what do i know... Any info would be greatly appreciated....
I guess they could have gone bad from sitting.. Now vac i'm not sure of.... Would i have to change the proportion valve??? When i bled the brakes, I opened the bleeder screws in rear and wife pushed pedal, no fluid came out...
No fluid whatsoever? Proportioning valve...Maybe. The proportioning valve gives the rear brakes a head start on the braking process before the more powerful front brakes kick in. SO maybe its clogged.
Are the '79 and '74 booster-to-firewall brackets IDENTICAL? If not, you might not be getting a full push to your master cylinder upon applying the brakes. Was the new MC bench-bled?
the 74 had manual brakes therefore the booster brackets were different... And the master cylinder was not bench bled... I don't know much about the brake system.... I guess i'll try the pro valve and see what happens
Ok, sorry to be so stupid but...... I am..lol The rod that comes from the firewall to the pedal is half inch shorter... Would that make a difference?? I am lost... My truck is sitting with no brakes... What a weiner....
Bench bleed the master and see if the arm is adjustable.
I think that there should be only a little play not a half inch. Check a manual. It will make a big difference.
You won't have brakes till you have fluid at the rears.
