Rear Main Seal
Hi there. Hey thanks for all the help with the intake. I just changed the oil pan gasket and still have the leak in the exact same place.Looks like it is comming out right between the motor and trans. Sounds like rear main? This probably involves pulling the motor? Its a 79 f150 4x4 with 350m. Thanks guys.

It may very well be a rear main however when looking for an oil leak on a V8 I always start at the top & work my way down. All upper oil leaks end up at the bottom of the engine anyway and if they're on the rear of the engne they look like a rear main. Start with the valve covers, then check the rear of the intake manifold and the oil pressure sending unit (they're notorious for leaking on 351M/400s). If you definitely determine that it is the rear main then it can be replaced without pulling the engine/trans.
