(Non) vibration observation.

Howdy guys. My truck has been running smoother than ever. One thing is I've been carrying a load of approximately 50-60lbs of wood in the bed of my truck for about 3 months. Just never had the time to unload it. Anyhoo, I finally ditched it early this week and was anticipating maybe a bit more "vibration" in my daily commute. I'd read that others had had this experience and even purposefully carried sand bags to "get a smoother ride". Well, after one week of driving normal traffic I can report no difference. Bed does not shake and I truely don't feel the ride is any different at all. It must be noted that I have had the Line-X spray in and possibly that is mimicking what the sand bag solution would be doing. I'm ordering a Penda bed mat (about 1/2" thick) for the truck. I'll report if that has any effect on the truck's driving. If anything I'd expect it to help the ride but most likely won't notice much.

Yeah let us know how that turns out. I have the Line-X in my truck as well and I don't notice the vibration the other guys talk about either.

Any weight in the bed will change the characteristics. All the frame is, on a pickup truck, is a fancy cantilever. Once you even out the load on the barren end (bed), the tendency for movement is dimished.

Yeah WheelMa1, but do you think that the Line-X liner weighs about about fifty or so pounds for the materail that they use in the application? Or, could it just be, that the Line-X liner, is basically like a vibration dampening material (Which is used to reduce the resonating factors of metal and thus reducing the vibrating qualities.) like what you would use in a car audio application? Only it is taken to a differnet level of density, for the added strength and durability. I was just curious about this, because I have a little more knowledge in the Mobile Audio enviroment than in some of the materials and products that we put into our trucks.
