Rear window problem- search didn't help

I searched and read everything I could find but I didn't see this problem. My rear window goes down ok with the key but usually won't go up. The interior button sends it up and down fine. I've had problems in the past that were solved by cleaning the latches and I found a broken wire once down by the hinge. The other day I cleaned and lubed the latches and checked the wiring that I fixed before. The splice looked bad so I replaced it and everything worked great. The next day my problem came back. Does anyone have any idea what I should check next?

its possible that the wiring is getting messed up by the window mechanism inside the gate. make sure the wires are well out of harms way

That just might be it. I remember taping them up before because they were rubbing on the metal. Thanks for the idea.

Have you checked the key switch? It may have a bad connection on the "up" side.

The wiring harness INSIDE the gate should be held "out of harms way" as Kem put it by several clips/plastic plugs taped into the harness at different points to keep it out of the path of the regulator and the glass itself. I have already had a couple of them snap from age and going brittle. Might just do a check to see that they are all there and still attached.
