Tranny Fluid

All,

I have a '03 5.4 FX4 Auto trans. Is Mecron V the correct fluid for this tranny?

mercon v is the correct trans fluid for your f-150

Would that be the same as a 2002 4x4 7700 Ford guy told me to use regular mercon.Which is the same as dexron3 I beleive.I thought that mercon v was a synthetic tranny oil.????

The 7700 probably requires regular Mercon; look on your dipstick handle. Mercon V is usually a synthetic blend, but the specification relates to performance.

If your tranny does call for Mercon, you should NOT use Mercon V or a fluid claiming to be Mercon/Mercon V. Check the Oil & Lubrication forum if you are interested in the background for this.
