Vacuum reading

1988 Ranger, 2.9, auto, air. What should the vacuum reading be at idle with engine warm?

Anything over 16" is not bad, but higher is better. 18" is damn near perfect. More important than the actual vacuum is how steady it is. If the needle doesn't move or moves very slightly that's good. If it bobs up and down rapidly then it's time to look into some work.
