Dummy needs help w/ steering column (loose)
Hi Guys,
My steering wheel is sloppy on my 1995 ford f150 (w/ tilt). It makes an annoying 'spring-tightenin-like' sound also. Sometimes it's crunchy like plastic bits.
So, I took off the wheel, and started digging into it. Here's where I am:

The column seems to be loose right here (also, there's a ring that's bent right there too). The shaft sort of can do a full circular motion about an 1/4 inch each direction.

Looks like a lot of metal shavings in there. In the photo of the bent ring are those scrathes? The plastic pieces may have come from the turn signal switch. No apparent damage there? The pics are just a little too close for me to make out. Sorry I couldn't help.
