temp gauge

I am wanting to install an electric tranny temp gauge on my 90 351/E4OD. The Jeg's catalog mentions a "temperature manifold" that they say is required for any tranny temp gauge install. It looks like it installs on some metal tubing somewheres and has a tapped hole for the sending unit, because it will fit on 3/8" or 5/16" OD tube. I haven't been under the truck for awhile, but I can't think of anywhere there is exposed tubing on that tranny!
Can anyone shed some light on this?

There is a supply and a return line between the trans and the cooler in the front of the truck.I believe the gauge should tap into the supply line (before its cooled).

'scuse me while i kick myself in the ***..

any idea what the OD is of that tube? (I would guess the bigger - 5/16?)
