" A thermostatic fan clutch operates the engine cooling fan in a low speed or idling condition despite engine speed when the engine is cold. The clutch senses the temperature of the air passing through the radiator and when additional cooling is required, the clutch increases the fan speed proportional to engine speed to a preset limit. When cooling is accomplished, the clutch reduces the fan speed to an idling condition."
So, if your truck is up to operating temp and the fan continues to spin for a while when you shut the engine down (mine spun for about 20 seconds), your clutch is bad. I'm sure there are degrees of "bad" but just something to keep an eye on.
