mine at 500 in gear now. it was at 700 in gear. my iac went bad. after i changed it. it moved to 500. you may want to clean your iac and see if that will help.
sits on top of the intake, towards the back. Has an electical connector and a couple bolts. The truck usually has starting problems when the IAC is bad. It will start and stall out unless you give it a little gas. However, since you mention that it used to idle at 1k (don't think that's normal) and now its down to 500, it could be the IAC
i think this might be the problem with my truck like when im siting at a light it will drop idle and sound like i have a racing cam and everyone thinks its a dragster dont get me wrong it sounds bad *** but is it good for the truck
The IAC, (Idle Air Control valve), is located at the top/back of your intake manifold. Two bolts hold it on, and a 2 or 3 wire harness attached to it. Easy to replace. Usually cost about $70.
