Where is Reverse light switch on C-6

Help. My truck is a 1975 f-250, just swapped in a 1976 460 and '76 C-6 from same truck . The '75 factory service manual says there are 2 shift rods on the steering column, w/ a reverse switch, plunger type, held by a bracket that is held onto the column by a clamp--- nuh-uh. I have only 1 rod and no type of switch. Also the '76 C-6 has no switch anywhere that I could find. How can I get my reverse lights to work? I'm already a little too well know here at home for 'rigging' things up so this time I'd like it to work correctly rather than just adding a toggle switch to the dash or some similar fix. I've heard some type of trans can be drilled for a switch and a boss nearby drilled and tapped for a switch holddown but not sure if that relates to this or if that is the only fix available. Any help is appreciated.

The B/U switch is on the steering column under the dash.

Where is Reverse light switch on C-6

I have seen that picture before but mine looks a bit different, probably still works the same though. A while back, I had a broken nuetral safety switch under there that required a new 'actuating tab' and new OEM switch (bought from Green Sales). I know it has 4 wires: red/blue, red/blue, black/brown, black. After checking the wiring diagram, I see that this does run the Reverse/B/U lights but I get lost on the diagram. Does anyone know which wires run to the reverse lights and is it just a simple circuit w/ 1 wire from this switch to the lights, then to ground somewhere or maybe one out to the lights then 1 in back from the lights then to ground or what? I am really starting not to like wiring diagrams. Thanks for ANY help you can provide.

One wire listed as black/red from power thru the switch then back to the lights as black/red and then to ground from an old Haynes manual.

I just got done dealing with that myself. I switched from a C6 to NV4500 in my 75 F250. There are 2 incoming hot wires in the switch. The switch completes one circuit to the firewall mounted starter solenoid-supplies 12 volts so you get action when you try and start the truck, and the other hot wire supplies 12 volts to the reverse lights. I made an anti-theft pushbutton connection between the hot and receiving line to the solenoid, so that when I start the truck I have to push and hold the hidden button first. the other hot wire just gets interrupted by the transmission activated switch on the NV4500. The way to sort it out is cut all four wires but make sure to keep them together as their respective pairs. After you do this the truck will not start. Then reconnect one pair and if the truck turns over when you hit the key then you know that pair of wires is for the solenoid and the other pair is for the reverse lights. If you dont want to cut any wires then use an ohm meter to test for 12 volts in the different switch positions-you could test at the solenoid on the firewall perhaps. Hope this helps.
