weed and Feed

I'm going to spray my grass with weed and feed (killex brand)
Believe it or not I read the instructions, it did not state whether or not I can cut the grass b-4 hand. Any suggestion what would work better?
Also says to keep kids and pets off the grass until it drys - but gives no time frame - dry to the touch or Arizona Dry?
All help would be helpful
Thanks Craig

Do not cut the grass first. The more plant that the weed killer can come in contact with the better chance you have of killing it. Give it a couple of days if you can till you cut.

Dry to the touch. No liquid left on the plant.

Good Luck.

Well being in the "green" industry myself, I can vouch for everything stated above. Don't change a thing.

Scotts says to apply its granular weedfeed on a wet lawn that was previously trimmed two or three days prior. Scotts formula needs to stick to the weed leaves, I believe the chemicals have to physically stick to the weeds to be effective. The fertilizer portion probably needs to get to the good grass thru the roots. I would keep everyone off the grass for 48 hours, just to allow the weed killer to do its job.

Pick out big weeds

To get a better lawn, if this is your case, pick out the big weeds first. Not the crab grass and small weeds, but the big weeds. Also, I would cut the grass to the lowest you mow it, this allows the maximum amount of feed to reach the soil faster, for faster results(if you bag the grass).

I've always used both weed and feed granular and the liquid with hose application .

They both require about 3 days without rain to work their best and i found a dose in the fall after the lawn stops growing produces a green postage stamp lawn in a neighbourhood of dandilions in spring till while my neighbours go to seed .

I even spread it on the last of my snow in chicken feeding fashion , the granular of course , and produced the same results . No stinkin' weeds .

Ok, on a side note, can you use a electric pull behind sprayer to apply this after you used bug killer in the sprayer?(I live in a cottage and had carpender ants) I flushed it out good but would the residue affect things?
