I installed the fuel tank this past weekend and found a problem being the gas gauge is reading full all the time. I am using a 22 gallon tank from a mustang with the stock gauge in my '64.
Could the problem be that I am using the stock gauge. On the sending unit there is no post for a ground would this be the problem.

You need to ground the sending unit to the tank and then the tank to the frame.
What sending unit are you using? The stock mustang sender should work with no problem but if you are using an aftermarked, it may be the wrong resistance.
Can you easily pull the sending unit? While installing mine I checked the float by playing "Now it's empty...now its full" by grounding the senderwith a gator clip and hooking the sender up to the positive wire--- moving the float up and down while watching the guage. I had to bend the float ball arm so when the tank was full it didn't say 3/4 on the guage. You might not have a good ground from sender to the tank, or from the tank to the frame, a bad sender, or a bad wire.
