need help locating GEM module
Thanks everybody
Enter the permanent factory keyless entry keypad code.
Press the 1/2 button within five seconds to activate the programming mode.
Within five seconds, enter the new five-digit keyless entry keypad code. The door locks will lock and unlock to confirm the new code is programmed.
I can't figure out what the "permanent factory keyless entry code" is. I read up on this system a little bit, and it is very very complex. The keypad on the door is one small part of it. It has modules all over the place that communicate through some sort of network, and of course, you have to have a special box to talk to it. I don't know where to find the code they are talking about.
You have a FEM under the panel that is under the steering column. FEM= front electronic module
You have a REM behind the right hand quarter trim mounted behind the bracket that mounts the jack. REM= rear electronic module
You have a RKE module that is behind the lower cover under the center dash(to the right of the gas pedal). RKE= remote keyless entry
They warn before you unplug any of these modules, you have to upload some sort of configuration info into your gee-wiz bang communication box.
