anyone here ever stroke their 302? was it worth it?
exactly how much is involved, and how much does it cost?
the reason i ask is because i am still saving up, and trying to decide to get a 302HO, a 351, or just stroke the 302 i have...
i hadn't even considered it until i saw an article in a recent issue of Petersen's 4wheel and Off Road magazine.
any thoughts?

I think the most popular is the 347 stoker. Our own Slik asked about it a few days ago.
I don't think there is any boreing involved in the 347. The standard 302 has a 3.00" stroke, and the 347 has a 3.40" stroke. 4-wheel and off-road built a 355 out of a 302 with a .60 over? bore. I believe .60 is way to much, never bore a small block over .30.

Had my 302 in my '85 F150 bored .030 over, GT40 cast iron heads, roller chain, Lunati cam, hi-volume oil pump. I am quite pleased with the results. I got what I asked for, told him I wanted good hiway speed but it is a little week on the low end. The radical cam makes the idle a little erractic but overall a good rebuild but a little pricey at a local mustang shop. I never have put it on a dyno but would love to see what the top speed is.
Have 220,000 miles on the block and about 80,000 on the overhaul and still holding strong.
