Mass Airflow Sensor??

Hey there fellow FTE members,

I was wondering if anyone installed the Granatelli MAF on their 04-05 F150? If so, what's your take on it, worth the $$$? I noticed that the 4.6 has been out for a bit and just recently they released it for the 5.4 3v but haven't seen any reviews on it. I called the company and as you could imagine, NIS. I was told that they can't produce them fast enough....so I was just wondering if any of yous out there has it and can give some feedback. Also, they send it with it's own Cold Air Kit so if you do know, please...do tell!

Thanx

Thumbs up How's da Haole SHaka>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Whats up Brah? Well, this is the first time I saw your post, so I'll try to help you with what I can. I have a 2004 Screw 2wd, Lariat. I didn't install the Mass Airflow Sensor, but I just installed the Diablo Predator tuner. It works good, and I didn't need to change the Sensor. Try to sell the sonsor, and buy the Diablo programmer instead. I bought it from this website and it works good. I also installed a MAC intake. The Predator is worth the money!

K-den, good Luck!

Howzit,

I know what you mean, I had the pred for a little over 6 months matched with the Airaid-in and Borla-ex. Really woke her up some too. but I'm trying to squeeze as much hp as (safely) as I can without going to a supercharger.

The MAF in question has been out for the 4.6 for awhile and has gotten great reviews. I looked all over the place for the 5.4 3v, so I contacted the manufacturer (Granatelli) and they said "Since it's production and release they haven't been able to keep it on their shelves". so I did a search online and found a third party vendor which had it in-stock! Asked about it and the rep was really unsure about what it came with??? so I agreed to order it as long as they would take it back (minus restock fee) if it didn't work with my setup.
well, a few hundred dollars later..... should be at my door today (fedex tracking)

next mods on the list..................flexalite fan and ignition booster

Mahalo for the reply! Laters

Let me know how the ignition booster works- I was thinking about getting that too. Don't buy the airraide throttle body spacer. If you want one, I'll sell you mine ($60.00). I installed it about two weeks ago and can't stand the screeching noise. they said the "Whistle" means its working, but I think the guy who tested it was deaf! It works good, but I don't want to live with the noise.

Unbelievable!

Noah,
Got it yesterday bout 4pm and I was twiching to get it in but I waited till this morning after I had a full tank of 92 oct. got back, tweaked the parameters a little more, after that removed the airaid and started the install, approximately 20 min later it was in.
At first when I seen the system I wasn't too impressed but like the techrep from Granatelli told me, it's a full cold-air intake system with the MAF sensor pre-installed on the tube. this system is very similar to the Volant....boxed filter with 2 inlets for air, one from the bottom and the other draws from the stock inlet against the frame and access to the filter is covered with a lid.
I cranked her up and when she came to life you can hear the diff right from the get-go. let her idle for 5 min then went for a cruise. pluged in the pred for some realtime readings and went down to H1. stopped on the freeway and waited for the cars to go by and floored it.........YEEEEOOOOOOW! what a diff!!! after the short tire spinn she took off like a rubberband snap! I must say well worth the $$$ much better then the Airaid. also no vibe from the gas pedal either (I don't understand why the airaid does that). The growl when I open her up is much deeper, she is definately breathing deeper now. and a big plus was............. No Warning Light!
Anyway, ya know anyone who could use a CAI? a little used but clean and cheap!

Aloha, D

Eh bradduhs, les keep dis tread jus fo us Hawaiians!

So where did you get this Granatelli? How much?

Did you test it WITHOUT the Predator tune? I don't have a tuner but am curious if this Granatelli makes a difference without one.

Aloha,

Hana hou!

Aloha Bruddah,
eh I just got back from restoring the original tune so I could download the updates from Diablo (mo betta stuff) and try to figure out how to tweak my saved performance tune on my laptop. trying to sqeeze what I can from my ku'u ipo.....anyway, I have to go to walmart, so I'll run her stock and letcha know da verdict. I'll also do some realtime again so I can compare stock to performance. the first time I did the comparison with the airaid and stock there was a noteable diff, and here I thought the pedal vibe was normal so I learned to live with it........ until now.

I got it @ http://www.tonnocover.com/ordering/o...php#gmsmassair
$ 423+$16-2 day fedex
so I'll letcha know when I get back.

Aloha, D

Here it is!

My Babe sounds sooo SWEEEEEEET! I Just got back with her and with the original tune back in she performed great but that dang throttle lag at the start... $uck$ bigtime. Highend performance is definitely pumpin! So much better than my last CAI. I noticed at approx 22-2500 rpm she opened up and before I knew it I was backing down on the speed, yikes 90 mph easily.
I have to compare my last upload w/o the performance tune to the one I did earlier. I don't know how good the results will be since I ran it with 92 oct.

Lifted...... until I got my new CAI, I really thought it was the cats meow! boy was I mistaken.....Did you know that Granatelli also partners in the production of the Diablo Predator tuner for the F150??? something told me to check it out because they have been working on speed and HP for a long time and maybe they might know a thing or two. Well, after the research on Mass Airflow I decided to give them a call and sure enough, because the F150 is so computerized (Drive-by-wire) they had to learn how to tweak without sending the truck into safe-mode. Never once had a warning, well neither did the Airaid. the little tweak by Granatelli with that MAF sensor has done wonders to my Baby.
My Butt Dyno noticed a big difference from the start.

but for the most, I have to get it dyno'd the right way and out here in Hawaii it's not the easiest thing to do atleast that I know of! So I recently purchased an 500 watt inverter that I am mounting and hardwiring into the cab so I can keep my laptop pluged in all the time while I stream live data from the predator and compare stats that way. the comparison that I did with Airaid and Granatelli shows a big difference in numbers in IAT, Load and MAF volume.

Aloha!

Whats up Hawaiian Style! I just read about your good news! Right on! How did the ignition booster work out? Did you install it yet? As for me, I'm running 22x9.5 inch rims, so the tire spin is very minimal. Hopefully this weekend I'll get the stock wheels back on and that will really be the test. Let you know how it goes........

When did you update your predator? I just got mine about a maonth ago and was wondering if I had the latest tune.

HawaiianStyle,

How's the Granatelli MAF sensor working? Have been thinking about getting one myself. What type/brand of air filter does it use?
