If it ain't 1 thing, it's another. How do you check the vacuum brake booster on a 85 F150? I think mine has a internal leak cause I can change the idle (slower) just by pumping the brake pedal in park. It olso seems to require more pedal pressure to stop and the engine kinda gets shakey. I thought the pads were worn out but they still had life, I replaced them anyway but that didn't help. Funny, what did help the idle was to hookup the vacuum advance to the back of the AFB where the brake booster is supposed to go. I had this fittin plugged and all vacuum hooked up to the manifold.
Oh well, another day, another part.
By the way, the steering stabilizer with frt. and rear sway bars really makes a big difference in the handling of this truck.
Moe ,
If the truck shakes when you apply the brakes , the rotors are likely warped . Have them resurfaced or replaced . I put new Bendix brake pads on my F150 not long ago . I like them way better than Raybestos simply because they dont turn my rims black with dust like the Raydustos ones do .

Sorry Moe ...I misread what you were describing . If the booster is leaking , its got to vent to the outside to affect the idle . If it were leaking , the idle would increase .
