you'll need to get a set of good jack stands so you can get the vehicle up high enough to get under it. I use a floor jack to get mine out. DISCONNECT BATTERY, take out the 6 bell housing bots out, remove the inspection cover, remove the starter, need a socket to fit on front balancer bolt to turn motor so you can remove the 4 flywheel bolts, disconnect trans lines, disconnect shifter linkage, remove driveshaft, remove all wiring plugs/spedo cable, support trans with floor jack, remove trans bolts, remover crossmember bolts, carefully let trans down working it back and down. Think that's it. Takes me about a hour to get one out laying on my back..then again i've done it several times.

Unless the truck in question has a body lift (unlikely on a 2wd)
you will need to either:
A)Remove the Y-pipe.
B)Seperate the Radius arm bracket(s) from the frame.

THE issue with getting the trans out is clearance between the
bottom of the floor, the Y-pipe and the radius arm crossmember.

Removing any one of the three makes getting it in an out fairly straight forward

BTW, DO NOT attempt to remove the trans without
unbolting the Torque converter from the flex plate
and pushing it back into the trans.

It is not possible to remove the trans with the torque converter
bolted to the flex plate.

You access the torque converter bolts through either the inspection hole in the
dust shield OR through the starter hole..

Have fun....

the T-case weighs about 75lbs

The trans about 150lbs

do not pull them together.

You can pull/install it a lot easier with a ratchet-strap (see picture). I've changed the trannie several times by myself. With the strap, ingenuity, cursing, and a floor-jack, it can be bench-pressed alone. With two people it shouldn't be too bad. Try to lift the truck as much as you (safely) can and rest it on jackstands.
